9 March - (Jonglei) Jonglei state authorities held a meeting between Uror and Nyinrol counties on Wednesday last week to resolve conflicts among 3 counties in Jonglei state.
Speaking to Sudan Radio Service on Monday from Uror county, Jonglei state, GOSS MP, Gatkouth Dup, said the three-day meeting was to find ways of resolving security issues between neighboring counties.
[Gatkuoth Dup]: “The agenda is the preparations to bring Uror and Duk county together and solve their problems, because last year the Duk raided cattle and then they killed many people from Uror county and this year the Duk police force ambushed and killed nine people from Nyinrol and they blocked the road. Now we want to bring the two communities to sit together and return to their normal activities.”
Dup said that another meeting will be held with the people of Duk county to come up with solutions to resolve conflicts between the neighboring counties.
He also urged the government to speed up the disarmament program, especially in Jonglei state.
